A new Eastern vehicle has been added to our collection. It is a Skoda Favorit LSE from 1991.
The Skoda Favorit was first introduced in 1987 and was a significant model for the Czech car manufacturer. It marked the transition from traditional rear-wheel drive technology to a more modern front-wheel drive. The Favorit was produced in various versions, including the more luxurious LSE version, which is evident from the interior design.
The "E" in the model name stands for another special feature, namely the Ecotronic. Ecotronic is the electronically controlled carburetor system from Pierburg that is installed in our Favorit. Various sensors allow a control unit to regulate the air-fuel mixture in the carburetor. This was intended to reduce emissions while simultaneously increasing performance.
Unfortunately, these vehicles are also prone to rust, which has not spared our specimen. Only upon closer inspection does one realize that in some places more welding or repairs are needed before the car can be seen on the road again.
