The Robur LO2002A (AKF LF8) is a legendary fire truck that was developed and produced in the former GDR. With its robust construction, powerful firefighting technology, and versatility, the Robur LF8 has secured a firm place in fire service history.
The Robur LF8 is based on the proven Robur LO2002A transporter and was specifically designed for fire service use. With its sturdy chassis, all-wheel drive, and rugged tires, the LF8 is capable of handling rough terrain and difficult road conditions. This off-road capability allowed fire departments to effectively reach remote locations and carry out firefighting tasks.
The Robur LF8 was not only developed as a pure fire truck but could also be used for various other tasks. It served, for example, as a transport vehicle for emergency personnel and equipment, as a technical assistance vehicle, or as a mobile workshop. With its versatile equipment and adaptability, the LF8 was a multifunctional vehicle that could meet the demands of various fire service operations.
So it's no wonder that our Robur was still in service with the volunteer fire department of Tellerhäuser (Saxony, Ore Mountains) until 2010. After that, it was privately owned and found its way to Bielefeld. To ensure that the former 5.5-ton vehicle could also be driven with a Class B driver's license, the fire service equipment was removed. However, the blue light system and the Martin horn remained functional.
We have compiled an article on how to replace a Robur or any other vehicle, here.
